Crazy McMaskFace was created on a magical afternoon playing art with my sister.
We were on a winter road trip from Houston to San Antonio. On the way we visited my artist/writer/teacher friend Shirley Bland in her Hill Country studio. Shirley introduced us to guache paint and to the work of Sandra Silberzweig.
I realize that McMaskFace looks like the kind of art only a doting mother would display. And that’s precisely it. McMaskFace is the love and lesson and inspiration and color and creation from that magical afternon.
I named her Crazy McMaskFace as a nod to one of the funniest newstories of 2016 in which a British polar research vessel was named by the internet. It’s a funny name and a funny story, reminding me to keep things light.
